Summer 2017 has been a challenging season for South Shores Youth. There have been lots of changes to work through as some of us step up a grade, others make a school move, others of us say goodbye to a beloved leader, and still others dealing with long times away from friends. With all these changes going on, we wanted to round everyone up for a day of fellowship and fun to bring our ministry family together. Saturday, August 29^th, was that day.

About 35 of us gathered Saturday morning to load boards, beach chairs and lunch into our big rental vans. Leaders, students and parents piled in and we headed south. About an hour later we made camp on the beautiful coast line at Cardiff Reef. Almost immediately, half the group was bobbing up and down in the water and the others were starting their sand-based activities. Lots of sunscreen and sandwiches were consumed and more than a few waves were enjoyed as students and leaders had a go on their own board or one of the new Wavestorm boards.

As we journeyed home, we took a pit stop off Del Mar in San Clemente. Middle School took over Baskin Robbins and High School took over South Swell Ice Cream. No matter how old you are, it seems sugary goodness brings a smile and great memories. So many meaningful conversations took place last Saturday. We are grateful for the day to get some quality time to spend together.
