In the Old Testament, when Nehemiah heard of the Jews who excaped and were in exile, the wall of Jerusalem that was destroyed and the fire, he wept and mourned for days. Then, Nehemiah fasted and prayed to hear God's direction. God saw Nehemiah's heart and saw that he cared about the things God cared about so he used him.
