Introduction

The South Shores Martial Arts Ministry was founded on September 5th, 2010 by Mr. Kamil AL-Hakim, Shihan (Master Teacher of the Martial Art of Inyo Ryu Kenpo Karate Jyutsu Do), and his Senior Student Mark Gautreau, Sensei (Teacher).

The Ministry was sparked by Pastor Guy’s challenge to the congregation to share their unique skills and talents with the church body. To this end, both Mr. AL-Hakim and Mr. Gautreau volunteer their time, with all proceeds from the ministry benefitting various other ministries of the church.

Mr. AL-Hakim has been working on creating this Art for the past fifteen years, as the ultimate synthesis and real-world application of the numerous arts in which he has been trained.

The Martial Arts Ministry Goals

Inyo Ryu CharactersInyo – Ryu – Kenpo – Karate – Jyutsu - Do, is a unique style of Martial Arts based on the balance of the human spirit, mind, and body. The Art is based on a concept of harmonic movement, and a special combination of slow and fast movements designed to immobilize an attack. The Art was created by Mr. Seiji Hirayama of Kyoto (1921-2002) and is rooted back to Tibetan “Taikyokuken”. Mr. Hirayama’s unique style is based on natural law, with the main purpose of balancing spirit, mind, body, and emotion to guide the practitioner to live in harmony with oneself and others.Grand Master Seiji Hirayama 10-23-1921 to 6-26-2002

KARATE is a way of life. It encompasses not only the learning skill of survival, but also the practical skill of self-control. Any man, woman, or child who seriously applies themselves to the study of this Art will benefit in all aspects of life.

The Ministry’s Goal is to provide peaceful Martial Arts Teaching based on: Grace, Confidence, Discipline, Adaptability, Simplicity, Awareness, Respect, and Humility.

The Training is designed to promote the personal growth of each student spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally. It is intended to build a strong foundation that is essential to the student’s progress in the Art and his or her Life’s Journey.
