I'm sure that by now your social feeds and television screens have been filled with the unreal images of the flooding and destruction felt in Houston by Hurricane Harvey. I hope that these unbelievable images of real people in real dire circumstances have led you not only into shock, but into prayer; prayer that God would protect, prayer that God would stop the rain, prayer for those acting in response, and ultimately prayer that even in this time, God's name would be glorified and made great in the midst of this disaster.

One of the ways that you can be part of making God's name great in the wake of this tragedy is to be part of the response.

SEND Relief and Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (SBDR) are two of our church supported organizations (throught the SBC Cooperative Program) that are already on the ground in Houston, arriving before Hurricane Harvey even made landfall. They have been busy deploying hundreds of crisis buckets and other needed supplies for the aftermath of the storm.

According to their website they have been asked to assist in the care of up to 60,000 displaced Texans in addition to preparing thousands of hot meals and performing mud-out, chainsaw and cleaning services to restore survivors’ homes.

If you would like to give toward the relief effort in Houston and surrounding you can either give a gift to South Shores Church (online or on Sunday) and designate - "Hurricane Relief" or you can click here and give directly on their website.

Be part of Christ’s love in action, today. And please pray for those affected by Hurricane Harvey’s destruction. Thank you.

Send Hope. Send Help. Send Relief.
