Faith Moments | Week 1: Waiting
Faith Moments
Week One: Waiting
There are so many opportunities to experience waiting during the holidays. We wait in lines at stores, in traffic, on the phone, and even for commercials to end on TV or YouTube. At the start of the New Testament, the people of Israel were waiting, too – for a Messiah. And they had been waiting for hundreds of years! Why do people have to wait?
Reading the Bible: Lamentations 3:25-26, Ephesians 1:3-10. God knew exactly when He would send Jesus. God promised a Messiah would come, but God’s people had to wait for God’s timing.
Living Life: When you find yourselves in a situation where you are waiting with your kids, talk about how it feels to wait. What would life be like if we never had to wait? Why might it be good for us to wait?
Making it Real: Wrap up a gift - something simple the whole family will enjoy. Put it somewhere in your house where everyone can see it. Use it as a visible reminder that just as we are waiting for Christmas, the world was waiting for a Savior.
Actually, some people are still waiting for a Savior (whether they realize it or not). Who do you know that needs to hear about Jesus? Make a list of a few people and pray that God will help them realize they are waiting for something.
